As great as it is to Stepparent an amazing tiny human, there are hard days.
Things happen that can trigger thoughts of giving up.
We are currently in the middle of legal proceedings, and that has made me temporarily unable to blog like I was before. It has prevented me from having an outlet, and speaking freely on certain subjects at the moment.
Because of this, If anyone has interest in writing a blog, please send me an email and it could be posted on the site, either anonymously or with your name attached.
I get that as a Stepparent (and as a Parent) things can get extremely tough before they get better. You go through so many judgements and attacks on your character, just to get through it and head face-first into another one.
I understand that it makes you feel like you have no other option than to give up.
But you can’t.
There’s this quote by Atticus:
Don’t give up now,
your best kiss
your hardest laugh
and you greatest day
are still yet to come.
There is a reason that you are in your partner and your Stepchildren’s lives. It is up to you to decide if that’s forever. It is not up to anyone else.
Do not let anyone else have that control over your life.
Look forward toward the future with the hopeful heart that your partner needs you to have.
You have a partner in your life.
I’m sure you have at least one negative aspect of your personality, or thing in your past, that your partner has dealt with and been there with you for. Just because their past is ever-present, they are not things someone can control.
Be grateful that the part you are struggling with about your relationship, isn’t actually about your partner.
It is something that you can control how you react to.
I know it’s hard to hear, oh do I know, but no matter what, YOU are in control of its effect on you.
Do not blame others. Not one other single person.
There will always be obstacles we have to go through in life, and just because this one is out of your control, do not let it control you.
I hope you’ve taken what I’ve said to heart, and I hope that you’re having a wonderful start to your year, and I hope you make it as memorable and as positive as you possibly can.
